The DAWN spacecraft has now reached the largest asteroid, Ceres!

There are amazing pictures coming from DAWN, revealing a most

world!

There appears to be a few “bright” regions on the surface of Ceres,

which have no easy explanation.

Ceres, is an object that is about 590 miles in diameter, about the size

of the state of Texas. Ceres, was discovered, back in 1801 and is the

first asteroid ever discovered.

Get set, for some amazing science, as DAWN moves into a stable orbit

around Ceres, with better images coming in the next few months! What

do you make of the bright spots?; some say that this may be evidence of

active ice volcanoes on the surface, or a peek into the metallic surface,

below the rocks of Ceres!
